Media Relations Manager

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, one
of the country's most highly regarded academic medical centers,

seeking an experienced communications professional to lead
its media relations efforts. Reporting to the Vice President
of Public Affairs & Marketing, the Media Relations Manager
is responsible for developing plans and executing tactics
in support of building positive public awareness of Dartmouth-Hitchcock,
in national, regional, state, and local media.
Among the responsibilities for this position:
- Research, write, proofread, and edit news releases,
features, and promotional materials
- Develop, implement, and maintain a media relations plan
- Provide strategies to guide responses to emergent and
ongoing public relations issues
- Act as a resource on media relations to other team members
in the department and other professionals in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock
system.
- Anticipate emerging issues and identify existing issues
that involve Dartmouth-Hitchcock publicly.
Serve as the primary DHMC spokesperson to the media on
a regular basis and serve as the organization's primary
media on-call staff, using sound judgment in protecting
patient confidentiality, and representing DHMC appropriately
to the public.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree
with a minimum of five years of experience working in the
media relations, communications or related field, or equivalent
in education and experience required. The ability to work
productively with constituencies including physicians, faculty,
staff, senior leadership, alumni, editors, journalists and
the public required. Familiarity with print, broadcast,
and electronic media and with online outlets required. The
ability to work effectively and accurately under tight deadlines
and sometimes conflicting pressures is required.
